Climate adaptation and environment

Climate change and the degradation of our natural resources are causing major strain on the livelihoods of human beings. Not only will our future generation face more challenges, but at this present time, the agricultural sector and fisheries industry are dealing with major issues to preserve our biodiversity and ecosystem.
With global warming, farmers and agriculture are facing natural disasters such as droughts, storms, flooding, hurricanes, typhoons, and cyclones like never before. Furthermore, this extreme weather condition is pressuring our ecosystems, where our fisheries industry is at risk due to the rising level of the sea and the melting glaciers.
Additionally, overexploitation and pollution are causing major harm to the fish population, threatening essential sources of income and nutrition for fishermen. As for the agricultural sector, the scarcity of water is causing a lower production rate.
At the same time, with the rapid growth of the global population, production demands will get higher and higher, and studies show that agricultural production must double by 2050 to meet the growing needs.
Our Initiatives
At the Liliane and Roland Foundation (LRF), we believe that investing in frontline workers, farmers, and fishermen is constantly battling the impact of climate change.
One concrete way is to improve access to financial services, provide training on sustainable farming techniques, and help in the construction of infrastructure that is resistant to climate change.
Access to clean water in some parts of the world is also crucial for the survival of humankind.
